Visit to Dr Diamond 22 November 2017
I consulted Dr Diamond endocrinologist regarding recent development of reactive hypoglycaemia, and for advice on some minor issues. Terry has been my endocrinologist for 25 years, and looks after my fragile bones.
He changed the metformin from 500mg mornings to 250 mg morning and lunch. If that doesn’t work he suggests not taking metformin at all, just relying on diet.
He also changed the frequency of the Vit D injection from yearly to 9 monthly.
We discussed the fragile bones issue and he recommended I use a vibrating platform for 20 minutes every day to assist the bones and the oedema in my legs and feet. The South East Aboriginal Health Care people will be funding this for me.
We also discussed
My numb finger tips. I had not expected the demyelination of the sensory nerves to progress to complete numbness so quickly and he said it is autonomic neuropathy, which is affecting me throughout the body. The high blood pressure is also caused by the autonomic neuropathy.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and the pervasiveness of impact, and inability to separate it from other syndromes/diseases. I had not mentioned this to him previously, as when I was first diagnosed I was not told nor made aware of implications of EDS on health.
The ileostomy and impact of losing part of terminal ileum on health, in particular the malabsorption issue, and how I am managing it. In particular he mentioned vit B1, B6, & B12. Funny, another doctor mentioned those particular vitamins in reference to psychological health.
Effect of high dose of prednisone (currently in a flare so taking 35 mg ever day). We both know the implications of a high dose on my general health.
He asked to let me know how I go on the vibrating platform.
